Francisco came to us through our friendship with Greg Brewer, of Melville and Brewer-Clifton. We are fortunate to be able to share Francisco with the Brewer-Clifton vineyard operations. As vineyard manager, he has literally transformed our viticultural practices, bringing them to a level we previously did not know possible.
Francisco’s background includes the planting of the Melville and Brewer-Clifton vineyards, and the careful training of those vineyards over the past seventeen years. His experience has been documented in the great wines that have been produced by those sites under his direction. A hands-on manager, Francisco walks the rows and examines the individual plants, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the micro level of farming on a block by block, vine by vine regimen. Yet he also has the acumen to translate his skill set to the macro picture, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
One of Francisco’s greatest skills is his ability to communicate not only technique, but the objectives of every viticultural practice he employs. This has proven to be a defining aspect of our operation, as our crew fully understands not only what they are doing, but why. With this understanding comes the realization that our success is inextricably intertwined with one another and a shared set of values that underlies everything we do.
